Acupuncture is an effective form of health care treatment that has evolved into a complete holistic health care system. Acupuncture promotes natural healing. It can enhance recuperative power and immunity, support physical and emotional health and improve overall function and well-being. It is a safe, painless and effective way to treat a wide variety of health related problems.
Acupuncture can be a very effective way to treat many different physical, mental and psychological health issues. It is one of the best ways to relieve stress and anxiety as well as depression and irritability. Acupuncture is also used for sleep disturbances, fatigue and overall energy level. It can be of great value to those with digestive problems including abdominal distension, constipation and slow metabolism leading to weight gain. Even sicknesses involving the sinuses and lungs leading to cold and allergy have great results using acupuncture. And of course acupuncture can be used for aches and pains of all types including headache, neck pain, sprains and strains to the low back as well as upper and lower extremities.
Acupuncture is a safe, effective and drug free therapy that can help address a wide variety of common ailments and problems. Normally when a blockage or imbalance occurs, the body easily bounces back, returning to a state of health and well-being. However, when this disruption is prolonged or excessive or if the body is in a weakened state, illness, pain or disease can set in. Acupuncture can help unblock obstruction, create balance and provide nourishment to cells, organs, tissues and muscles. This can eliminate pain and restore balance and harmony as well as the bodies' ability to heal itself, ultimately leading to optimal health and well-being.
During the initial exam a full health history will be taken. Questions will be asked regarding symptoms, health and lifestyle. Then most likely your acupuncturist may also check your pulses and tongue as well as conduct a physical exam. This information is organized to create a complete, accurate and comprehensive diagnosis. After the interview process you may receive and acupuncture treatment.
Where the acupuncture needles are inserted, you may experience a vague numbness, heaviness, tingling or dull ache. Sometimes people experience a sensation of energy spreading and moving around the needle. This is called "Qi sensation". All these reactions are good and a sign that the treatment is working. After treatment, you may feel energized or may experience a deep sensation of relaxation and well-being.
The sensation cased by an acupuncture needle varies. Some people feel a little pain as the needles are inserted, but most feel no pain at all. The needles are tiny, just a little thicker than a cat's whisker or a human hair.
Acupuncture is extremely safe. It is an all-natural, drug free therapy, yielding no side effects except the feelings of relaxation and well being. There is little danger of infection from acupuncture needles because they are sterile, used only once and then discarded.
